Today I wanted to post pictures of my craft room. Last week, I purchased three small storage units from Ikea, and it took me a week to get them assembled. Once they were assembled and put in place and everything organized I realized just how boring my creative space is. So, I'm posting pictures in the hopes that someone can offer suggestions as to how to liven up my crafting space a little. I'm open to paint, art and some funky colorful curtains. Okay, here we go...

Hi Michele. First I love how your room has a clean simple design. Meaning clutter free and everything seems to have a place. I'm so OCD when it comes to clutter and organization. Today I saw on the Nate Burkus show where this lady purchased some material for a few dollars. Then she used a sewing machine to make a hem where the curtain rod would go. The focus was for people that live in an apartment where you rent and can't hang anything that would put holes on the wall. So it was a curtain hung by a rod on the wall behind the sofa where she sleeps. The material had a white background with either pink or red flowers. It was really pretty and not expensive to make.
I say splash some paint on those walls. It will give the room a new feel. As for color, that is a personal choice but something light and airy.
Michelle,
I love your space! You could add some color to the wall if you want or how about use your cricut, cut out some sayings for the wall? Ikea has great shelving and wall baskets. Love the color of your E.

Love your space! Nice and clean and neat!! I say either paint or cut some vinyl to decorate the walls. I'm leaning toward just decorating with vinyl -- I love the fact that the walls and furniture in my room are all white, so I'll just embellish rather than change the wall colors. I'd do something light like Cassie suggests if you decide to paint.
Hi, Michelle! You're lucky just to have a space to call your own. I am in the process of clearing out an extra bedroom to set up my own craft room. I would definitely add some shelves as well as some color and art to the walls but I think you'll be happier in the long run if you leave the furniture as is. If you leave your Expression machine sitting out all the time, I would try to match your colors to it as that color would also look attractive with the color of the furniture. Use wall paint, colorful fabrics for curtains and pillows (if you have a place to put them) and cut some cool vinyl wall art with your Expression. Make it a reflection of your personality and you'll be happy as can be when you're in there crafting away! Good luck!
P.S. Would you mind sharing how much all of the furniture pieces set you back? The only IKEA store close to me is a little over an hour away and I don't want to drive that far if I can't afford what I'm going after.... know what I mean? LOL
Thanks,
Anne

Hi Anne. I don't mind sharing the price. The two desks along with the two larger pieces cost about $500 total. The 3 smaller units are $35 each. The larger pieces are Expedit, I believe. Keep in mind that with Ikea you can come up with any combination of pieces and the price can be more than what I paid. Also, I got my pieces about 3 years ago, so I would imagine that Ikea may have had a slight price change in that time frame. Good luck shopping in Ikea.
